Follow the M3 freeway towards Muizenberg passing Kirstenbosch Gardens and all the gorgeous Constantia wine estates – or not.

Head across Boyes Drive (keep the speed limit around here) for panoramic views across the pristine sandy ‘surfers paradise’ beaches of coastal town, Muizenberg

Follow signs through Simons Town to the Boulders Beach Penguin Colony parking on the left.

After visiting the Penguins, continue to spectacular Cape Point where two oceans meet

.

Return to the city from Cape Point via Scarborough, Noordhoek and across the hair-raising Chapmans Peak Drive before stopping for a late seafood lunch on the airy verandah of the Chapman’s Peak Hotel – with views across Hout Bay beach.

From here it’s an easy 25min scenic coastal drive passing Llandudno’s sensational beach, the imposing Twelve Apostle mountain range and through the ever-buzzy Camps Bay beachfront back into Cape Town city.
